Steder (11)

Babylon Isa 13:1–14:23 + 21:1-10 Two oracles against Babylon: the day of the Lord is coming upon it, and it will be overthrown like Sodom and Gomorrah. In 21:1–10 the vision of Babylon's fall is repeated.
Assyria (Nineveh) Isa 14:24-27 The Lord will break Assyria in his land and trample it on his mountains. No one can thwart his purpose.
Philistia (Gaza) Isa 14:28-32 Do not rejoice, Philistia, that the rod is broken – from the serpent's root will come forth an adder.
Moab (Kir-hareseth) Isa 15–16 Ar is laid waste in a night, Kir of Moab is destroyed. Two chapters of lament over the fall of Moab – one of the longest oracles.
Damascus (Aram) Isa 17 Damascus will cease to be a city and become a heap of ruins. Ephraim, the northern kingdom, is struck too.
Cush (Ethiopia) Isa 18 Woe to the land of whirring wings beyond the rivers of Cush – the people who send envoys by the sea.
Egypt (Memphis) Isa 19–20 The Lord rides on a swift cloud to Egypt. The idols of Egypt tremble. The Nile dries up. In the end: Egypt, Assyria and Israel will worship the Lord together.
Dumah (Edom/Seir) Isa 21:11-12 One calls from Seir: Watchman, what of the night? – The shortest oracle, only two verses.
Arabia (Tema/Dedan) Isa 21:13-17 In the thickets of Arabia you will lodge, O caravans of Dedan. Bring water to the thirsty. The glory of Kedar will come to an end.
Jerusalem (the Valley of Vision) Isa 22 A surprising turn: Jerusalem too receives its oracle. The people feast instead of mourning. Shebna is removed, and Eliakim is installed.
Tyre Isa 23 Wail, O ships of Tarshish! Tyre, the queen of the merchants, is humbled for 70 years – but is restored in the end.
