Jeremiah's way from the priestly town of Anathoth (Jer 1:1) to Jerusalem, where most of his ministry takes place: the temple sermon (Jer 7), the symbolic acts in the Valley of Hinnom (Jer 19) and by the Euphrates (Jer 13), the arrest during the Babylonian siege and the imprisonment in the court of the guard (Jer 37–38). After the fall of Jerusalem in 586 BC he is set free at Ramah and joins the governor Gedaliah at Mizpah (Jer 40). After the murder of Gedaliah he is forced to go to Egypt with a group of Judeans, where he prophesies at Tahpanhes (Jer 43–44).
